Almost everyone reading this knows that the media has become largely irrelevant. While I wouldn’t classify Kimmel as part of the legacy media, he is certainly part of the mainstream and often exemplifies what it means to spread misinformation. It’s about time he was held accountable for his actions, which is why Trump said what needed to be said.
According to Trump, “Jimmy Kimmel was fired because he had bad ratings” and because “he said a horrible thing about a great gentleman.” I would tend to agree with that. While the left might want you to see this as “cancel culture,” that couldn’t be further from the truth.
According to USA Today:
In his show’s opening monologue on Sept. 15, Kimmel said supporters of President Donald Trump were “desperately trying to characterize” Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old charged in Kirk’s murder, as “anything other than one of them.” Last week, Kimmel also criticized Trump for saying Democrats were responsible for Kirk’s death at a Utah campus on Sept. 10.
I understand that the left often engages in victim-blaming, but this is a new low even for them. In their effort to frame this as anything other than the result of their own rhetoric, they’ve gone so far that even the most radical leftists would be stunned.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was, uh, grieving on Friday − the White House flew the flags at half-staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this.”
He could have just stayed silent and left Charlie’s name out of his mouth, but I guess his parents never taught him the old saying: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” As a result, he no longer has a show for the foreseeable future. Whether he comes back or someone else takes over remains to be seen. In the meantime, let’s just hope he doesn’t let the door hit him on the way out.
