Military personnel need strength to carry out demanding tasks and remain ready for combat situations, among many other reasons. With that being said, can someone explain why Senator Mazie Hirono just asked Kash Patel what might be the dumbest question ever?
Hirono not only wasted time by asking Patel why pull-ups are required in the military, but she also described the standard as ‘harsh,’ suggesting that women are too weak to manage even a single pull-up.
Oh, my. It’s not so much what she said—it’s what she really meant.
I realize Hirono is known for asking some pretty ridiculous questions, but this one was especially weak. The real takeaway from the video isn’t just that she implied women aren’t competitive athletically or that they can’t do a single pull-up—it’s that she acknowledged there are real physical differences between men and women. By that logic, it would follow that she believes boys shouldn’t be competing in girls’ sports.
The irony is that Hirono voted against and helped block the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. This perfectly illustrates why people often say the Left’s only consistent standard is a double standard.
As Patel pointed out, ‘doing one pull-up is not harsh.’ What’s troubling is Hirono’s suggestion that anyone should be excused from basic military standards—especially coming from someone tasked with representing the American people. Still, now that she has openly acknowledged a truth that has been self-evident since the beginning of time, the question remains: when will the rest of the Democrats do the same?
As of now, most Democrats still support allowing men to compete in women’s divisions. And you can bet those same voices would also back giving women an easier path into the military. Funny how that works, isn’t it?
