One Direction might have disbanded nearly a decade ago, but that has not stopped fans from celebrating the English-Irish group’s milestones year after year.
Today (September 28) is no exception, as fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to celebrate 13 years of a song we all know and love: “Live While We’re Young.”
For those who need a refresher, “Live While We’re Young” — written by Savan Kotecha and produced by Rami Yacoub and Carl Falk — was the lead single from One Direction’s second studio album, Take Me Home, released to the public on September 28, 2012.
The accompanying music video was released just days later on September 20, 2012, capturing the carefree nature of bandmates Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik through nearly four minutes of fun in the sun.

Nevertheless, PopCrave wrote via X today, “13 years ago today, One Direction released ‘Live While We’re Young,'” accompanied by a series of screen grabs from the oh-so iconic music video.
Naturally, this post caused a great deal of chatter, with fans celebrating “Live While We’re Young” — as well as the award-winning band as a whole — underneath the post:
- “Can’t believe it’s already been 13 years! Still such a feel-good jam 🎶 Who else remembers blasting this on repeat?”
- “Iconic track, still bops today. Simpler times, eh?”
- “Such a nostalgic smash hit!”
- “An absolute classic!”
- “Pure nostalgia 🎤”
With the One Direction tune standing the test of time, it’s safe to say fans all across the globe will be blasting “Live While We’re Young” today — us included!
