Actress Candace Cameron Bure shared that she was taken aback by a recent comment from a filmmaker.
Page Six reported that Cameron Bure gave details about an upcoming project she’s a part of in a September 2025 episode of her podcast, The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast, co-hosted by Lisa Whittle. She said that “there’s a flashback scene” in the film, wherein her character is about 15 years younger.
“So I’m supposed to be about 30 years old,” said the 49-year-old.
The Full House star said that the film’s visual effects team was going to “digitally alter [her] face” for the flashback scene. According to the mother of three, the filmmaker let her know that the visual effects team was going to focus on editing “[her] crows feet, [her] forehead, [and] around [her] mouth.”
“And I go, ‘Great.’ And then he goes, ‘And then your neck.’ And I was like, ‘Wait, what? My neck? You need to do something to my neck?’ said the actress.
She then said she was surprised by the comment because she “never considered that [her] neck looks old.”
“I didn’t even think about it. And then when he told me he’s going to work on my neck, I was like ‘Great, I’m going back to therapy.’ Another thing to think of. What is happening?” said Cameron Bure with a laugh.
Candace Cameron Bure Spoke About ‘Backhanded Compliments’ from Fans
Cameron Bure, who began starring as DJ Tanner when she was just 10 during the show’s first season, said she has received what she has considered “backhanded compliments” from fans over the years. In an August 2025 episode of her podcast, she said that Full House and Fuller House viewers will often approach her to tell her that she looks smaller in real life.
“Everyone says like, ‘You’re so tiny in person. You just seem so much bigger on TV,” said Cameron Bure in the podcast episode.
She clarified that she knows that “so many people mean it’s so loving and nice.”
“But it still just hits in a place that doesn’t always feel good. I mean, now as a grown woman, I do take that differently,” said Cameron Bure.
She also said she was rejected from appearing in Seventeen magazine when she was around 15 years old because of her appearance. She said she was told that she wasn’t “the right fit for the magazine” because she didn’t “physically look like what [they were] looking for for the magazine.”
According to Cameron Bure, she lost between 15 and 20 pounds after Full House Season 5 ended in 1992. She said she decided to go back to the Seventeen Magazine offices to see if the publication was now interested. However, she said she was rejected yet again for not being “the right fit.” In addition, she was told that she did look “better” than before.
Cameron Bure then shared that she is still affected by the situation.
“I’m 49 years old and I’m still talking about it because it hurt,” said the actress on her podcast.
