Derek Hough is feeling “strong at 40” — but he’s not too sure he’s about to be crowned People’s Sexiest Man Alive.
In a new Instagram video, the Dancing With the Stars judge and six-time mirrorball champion shared that he’s been nominated in People’s annual Sexiest Man Alive Reader’s Choice poll, where fans can vote in categories like Sexiest Man Turning 40 This Year (which is the category Hough is nominated in).
The 40-year-old professional dancer, who’s currently expecting his first children with wife Hayley Erbert Hough, opened a congratulatory box from People featuring some cheeky gifts — including pajama pants covered in his own face (“Derek Hough face pants,” Hayley teased, “I will be wearing those during this pregnancy.”), Sexiest Man Alive boxer briefs and a travel coffee mug.

“Thanks @people for the very kind gesture 🙏🏼❤️,” Hough captioned the video. “Feeling strong at 40, but definitely not confident I would win this particular category 😂😂 I’ll shave my head if I do.”
In the clip, Hayley films her husband as he reads the card aloud:
“We’re thrilled to celebrate your nomination for People’s Sexiest Man Alive Reader’s Choice Poll.”
“Look at that! 40-year-old Sexiest Man Alive!” Hayley cheers off-camera, making Hough laugh.
“Sexiest Man Alive for being 40! Hey, I’ll take that,” he replied. “That’s not bad at all.”

But when it came to his competition — soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, Broadway heartthrob Jonathan Groff and British Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton — Hough admitted, “No way I’m winning this. I think the other guys were like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lewis Hamilton or someone else.”
Then came the promise that had fans cracking up.
“Babe, I’m so confident that I’m not gonna win it, that if I were to win that, I would shave my head,” Hough declared. “I would shave my head, and I’ve never shaved my head, I think, in my life. Except for when I was like 5.”
Hayley laughed, “You heard it here first, folks. He’ll shave his head. We’ll get him to win that thing.”

Fans quickly filled the comments with playful warnings:
