Friday night, Erika Kirk addressed the nation. I have a hard enough time finding the words for what happened this week with friends. Mrs. Kirk, one day after the enduring the worst, most unimaginable thing possible, found the strength to speak to EVERYONE. This includes legions of Charlie’s fans looking for guidance about what’s next, as well as hateful leftists who still don’t get it.
Rest assured, as far as Mrs. Kirk is concerned, there’s old adage about striking someone down and having that person grow more powerful that anyone can imagine.
The evildoers responsible for my husband’s assassination have no idea what they have done. They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith, and of God’s merciful love. They should all know this, if you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you have just unleashed across this entire country and this world. You have no idea.
To everyone listening across America, the movement my husband built will not die. I refuse to let that happen. All of us, will refuse to let that happen. No one will ever forget my husband’s name, and I will make sure of it.
Of course, anyone with the slightest bit of class and grace wouldn’t find issue with a widow speaking the day after her husband was assassinated. The left in this country, unfortunately, has neither.
Though, in fairness, I only have one example. I had promised myself I was going to take a break from politics this weekend, so I didn’t do a deep dive into the vitriol on BlueSky, Reddit, or X. If this is the only example of hate being thrown Mrs. Kirk’s way, and the left as a whole decided to be decent humans for a change, consider this my mea culpa.
But Wajahat Ali stood out because he is a regular who spews hate on cable news, is racist against people who have opposing viewpoints, and platforms others who do the same.
Again, if Ali is the only person on the political left attacking a widow, I’ll admit that I was wrong to say “the left” as a whole is doing the same. It’s been a long week,
And I get it. Charlie had opinions that the left disagrees with. Some of which are even his actual opinions, and not the twisted lies about what he said, because the left and the media (but I repeat myself) are gross and operate in bad faith. The left believes that when someone who disagrees with them about political issues dies, let alone is killed, it’s not a sad event. I’m not here to tell people how to feel.
But it costs nothing to say nothing. Someone’s widow speaking the day after her husband’s assassination should be one of those times.
