HBO Max has greenlit a new Game of Thrones prequel series set during the Dance of the Dragons civil war. The series will explore the Targaryen dynasty at its peak power, featuring multiple dragon riders and epic battles. Production is expected to begin in early 2026 with a planned 2027 premiere date.
