After collapsing in a yard, a high school golfer in Georgia has died.
According to Dodge County Coroner Joe Smith, 17-year-old Hadden Kelly collapsed Monday while participating in “homecoming activities.” Smith is also the great-uncle of Kelly. (RELATED: Sister Of Timberwolves’ Naz Reid Killed In New Jersey Shooting, Prosecutors Say)
Speaking with WGXA News, Smith said that Kelly was with a friend at a residence during the time of the collapse, which happened in the yard. Unresponsive as a result of the scene, he was later pronounced dead at the same location. To determine the cause of his death, Kelly’s body is currently in the process of getting an autopsy.
Per Dodge County High School golf coach Paula Selph, Kelly played golf “every day,” and not just that, but he also had a job at Dodge County Golf Club.

Shortly after Kelly’s death, Selph took to Facebook to speak about him as a person and teammate.
“Hadden LOVED golf and the Golf Team surely loves Hadden,” posted Selph on the official Facebook page of Dodge County High School. “Hadden was our team leader, always encouraging and forever speaking positive words to all around him. He so hoped that our golf team would keep improving and desperately sought after participating in the State tournament.”
Based in Eastman, Georgia, the school itself also issued an official statement regarding Kelly’s death.
“There are no words to express the sadness that our DCHS family feels for the loss of junior Hadden Kelly. Please join us in prayer for his family, friends, and our DCHS Family. Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.”
