EXCLUSIVE: Indie distributor Several Futures has picked up North American distribution rights to the 4K restoration of Lebanese filmmaker Jocelyne Saab’s narrative debut feature, The Razor’s Edge

The restoration will debut at the New York Film Festival before opening at BAM in October for a week-long run before expanding across the US and Canada.

Set amid the Lebanese Civil War, Saab’s fiction film centers on the bond formed between a fortysomething painter and a teenager who grew up in war-torn Beirut. The new 4K release marks 40 years since the film’s original debut.

“Jocelyne Saab is one of the most important filmmakers of the 20th Century,” Graham Carter, of Several Futures, said in a statement. “Her documentaries are invaluable records, and her fiction is just as key to understanding Lebanon and the effects of war.”

The Razor’s Edge was restored in 4K in 2025 by Association Jocelyne Saab in collaboration with Cinémathèque suisse and La Cinémathèque québécoise at Cinémathèque suisse and Association Jocelyne Saab laboratories, from the positive preservation copy of the original cut presented at Cannes in 1985. Funding was provided by Association Jocelyne Saab and Nessim Ricardou-Saab.

In a statement, the Jocelyne Saab Association added that they are “thrilled with the upcoming release of The Razor’s Edge in the US.”

Graham L. Carter launched Several Futures in 2022. The company’s recent releases include Heiny Srour’s Leila and the Wolves and Pierre Creton and Vincent Barré’s 7 Walks with Mark Brown, the former of which is currently streaming on Criterion Channel and was just released on Blu-ray.
