With the Apple TV+ comedy series The Studio expected to have a big night at the Emmys, series co-creator and star, Seth Rogen, got things off to a hot start as he took home the Emmy for Best Actor in a comedy series. The win marked his first ever Emmy after being nominated nine other times before tonight, (he does have three additional nominations including best comedy series). Rogen was at a loss for words and told a funny story to show that he never thought he would be accepting any award let along an Emmy award when he was growing up.
“I’ve never won anything in my life, when I was a kid, I bought a used bowling trophy at an estate sale and my parents were like, ‘yeah, that’s a good idea, you should probably buy that,” he said laughing.
The other nominees he beat out include Jeremy Allen White from The Bear, Adam Brody from Nobody Wants This, Martin Short from Only Murders In The Building, Jason Segel from Shrinking. This marked the first win of the evening for the series as it was nominated for 23 Emmys including Best Comedy Series. It had already won ten Emmys at the Creative Arts Emmy awards, including best guest star actor for Bryan Cranston.

Rogen would go on to thank his wife, parents and reps as well as everyone who was on the show and was nominated, but the usually chatty star could only say that he never thought he would be up here but that he was grateful for winning the award.
“It’s really so lovely, I don’t know what to say this is so nice,” said Rogen.
