As much as everyone loves Halloween, I think we can all agree that Halloween costumes have gotten scary expensive. But, more often than not, budget-friendly options just aren’t as cute or require the patience to thrift and buy second-hand.
Thankfully, one crafty Trader Joe’s shopper totally changed the game with this affordable and easy-to-make witch hat.
“I needed a witch hat, but I didn’t want to buy one, so I made one instead! Made from two vinyl/cellulose washable bags,” the poster wrote via Reddit.
The Trader Joe’s fan also posted the free, downloadable Keiko Lynn pattern they used.
Of course, it didn’t take long before fellow TJ shoppers chimed in with praise. “Amazing. Much better than store bought,” one user wrote. “Too cute,” added another.
“Love it!” a third user chimed in, while a fourth echoed, “Wear it to the store! I bet they would be tickled.”
If you’re not looking to DIY your Halloween costume, at the very least, you can check out Trader Joe’s assortment of Halloween snacks and decor.

“These things always taste terrible, but it’s fun! I approach them as ‘inedible crafts,’ even though they’re edible. They’re just absolutely not worth eating,” one Trader Joe’s shopper shared on Reddit. “It doesn’t taste good LOL. I tossed it!” another added.
Pretty soon, Trader Joe’s will have a Gingerbread House Kit for Christmas, complete with gingerbread pieces, icing, candy decorations, and even little edible woodland creatures—perfect for continuing the festive fun after Halloween.
